Take a seat.
Come back to yourself.
Why we’re here
Today, the cultural moment moves faster
than we can make sense of.
We mistake
buying with becoming,
trends with taste,
and being noticed with being known.
In the noise, we can lose track
of what actually feels like us.
The Living Room exists to interrupt that cycle.
It is a space not to perform identity,
but to return to yourself.
Who we are
The Living Room is a membership-based
social space in New York City.
Each month, members and artists gather
around one theme: desire, belonging,
intimacy, play, or reinvention.
Creative expression is how
we enter the conversation.
Artists make each theme tangible through
food, film, music, dance, writing, and more,
giving members something to experience,
respond to, and discuss together.
The goal is not to become someone new.
It is to return to yourself,
and to recognize something true
in the people around you.
What we look like
Each month follows one theme
through a four-week rhythm:
-
The Living Room Post.
A printed newspaper arrives at your door, introducing the month’s theme through research, stories, and reflections on life in New York City. -
The Gathering Room.
Five artists respond to the theme through their own medium and perspective.Food, film, music, dance, and more become entry points for conversation between artists and members.
-
The Immersion Room.
Members enter one artist or thinker’s world through a shared performance, process, or presentation. You are invited to notice closely, understand deeply, and respond honestly.
-
The Creation Room.
Members become the creators.Through a guided artistic process, you make something of your own in response to the month’s theme.
